Welcome to Tanzania!
Our guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer you to Tanzania Wildlife, which has a beautiful garden and a swimming pool.
Journey Time: 45 minutes
Accomodation: Ilboru Safari Lodge
Day 2
Walking Safari & Game Drive in Arusha N.P.
Tanzania Wildlife offers a 2 – 3 hour walking safari escorted by an armed ranger with the opportunity to view Tanzania Wildlife up close, including buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe, warthog, Zebra, bushbuck, and of course, the naughty baboons, which can be seen all year round by crossing the Jekukumia River and through the shadowy. Then, after a picnic lunch, continue your game drive by car across the grassy hills between grazing herds of ZebraZebra, while wide-eyed cute Dik-Dik dart into the scrubby bush through the Momella Lakes, which turn a few shades of pink between May and October, with thousands of lesser and greater flamingos and many other migrant birds partying. Then go back to your lodge.
Journey Time: 1 hour, each way
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Packed Lunch
Accomodation: Ilboru Safari Lodge
Day 3
To Lake Natron N.P.
After an early breakfast, you will travel to Lake Natron national park, passing through many Masai villages and having the opportunity to see gazelle, giraffes, zebras, baboons, bee boxes, ostriches, and birds such as vultures, starlings, and kites along the northeast of Tanzania Wildlife between the Ngorongoro highlands and the Serengeti plains. The landscape rather than the wildlife attracts visitors to Lake Natron, but from June to November, approximately three million flamingos congregate at the lake. Tanzania Wildlife is yet another of East Africa’s most awe-inspiring wildlife encounters. The strong alkaline in the lake acts as an excellent deterrent to predators, keeping the flamingos safe while they look for a mate. Guests can get up close and personal with the spectacle by taking walks along the lake flats. The views of Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano are also spectacular near the lake’s southern end. The Tanzania Wildlife is unique in that it is the only one on the planet that spews black lava. A true Tanzanian jewel highlight!
Journey Time: 5 – 6 hours
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accomodation: Lake Natron Halisi Camp
Day 4
Lake walk / Masai village / Waterfall hike
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a 3 – 4 hour walk to Lake Natron with a Masai guide through Ngare Sero village, where you will see the Masai local community living and working with their cattle in such extreme temperatures and a barren landscape. The walk offers breathtaking views of the active Oldonyo L’Engai volcano and Lake Natron. After lunch and a 1-hour rest, depart for a game drive, where you can expect to see Gerenuk, Lesser Kudu, and Oryx, as well as waterfalls where you can swim. Lake Natron serves as the primary breeding ground for up to two million lesser Flamingos. The breeding season lasts from September to March, with the peak being from October to December, when they completely cover the lake. You return to the camp after viewing the lake and birdlife of Tanzania Wildlife.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accomodation: Lake Natron Halisi Camp
Day 5
Game Drives in Tarangire National Park
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a game drive to Tarangire National Park, where you will have the opportunity to see elephants, leopards, zebras, impalas, warthogs, eland buffalo, waterbuck, and lions, as well as more than 500 different species of birds. Tanzania Wildlife has the highest wildlife concentration outside of the Serengeti and is the only place in Tanzania where you can see oryx and lions. Then, after enjoying your packed lunch in a beautiful location in the Tanzania Wildlife, you can return to the lodge and relax by the pool or with a cool drink.
Journey Time: 4 – 5 hours to the park entrance
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
Accomodation: Sangaiwe Tented Lodge
Day 6
Village Walk in Mto wa Mbu
After an early breakfast, you will go on a game drive outside the park to ‘Mto wa Mbu,’ a farming community with approximately 18,000 people representing 120 tribes living happily. The Tanzania Wildlife tour will then take you to various farms, schools, churches, banana plantations, youth art projects, local bars, and local markets where you can wander around stalls selling fruits and vegetables, spices, and meat. The length of the tour is flexible but typically lasts 2–3 hours. Following the village walk, you will be served a delicious local Swahili meal, which you (can) prepare with the help of a local woman. Then go to Lake Manyara National Park, which has diverse vegetation and 11 ecosystems where you can see flamingos, pelicans, water birds, and this lake gives you the opportunity to see over 300 migratory birds of Tanzania Wildlife. Among these are the long-crested eagle, grey-headed kingfisher, and other birds found nowhere else in Tanzania. The park has one of the world’s highest biomass densities of large mammals. The possibility of seeing elephant families moving through the forest, as well as Lake Manyara’s famous population of tree-climbing lions, is reason enough to include a visit to this park on the itinerary. Then head back to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Journey Time: 1 hour from Tarangire Gate to Mto wa Mbu
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Local Lunch, Dinner
Accomodation: Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp
Day 7
To Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, you will drive to Serengeti National Park, which is divided into three regions: Serengeti Plains, Western Corridor, and Northern Serengeti. It is home to the world’s largest population of wild animals and has a complex and untouched ecosystem where you can see millions of wildebeest and zebra migrating during the Great Migration.
Journey Time: 5 to 6 hours to the park entrance
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
Accomodation: Tortilis Camp
Day 8
Game driving in Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, you will go on a morning game drive to get as close to the wildlife as possible. Because few predators hunt during the day, early morning is the best time to witness the thrill of the chase. Then we’ll have a picnic lunch and enjoy our packed lunch before continuing on with the game drive and returning to your accommodation for dinner and the night.
Optional activity: Hot Air Balloon Safari Serengeti
This optional activity costs US$800 per person.
Fly over the famous Serengeti National Park in a hot air balloon. This could be the most beautiful area on the planet for a balloon ride. There are no power lines or fences, and there are only a few roads. When you leave your lodge or camp in the morning, your Balloon Safari adventure begins. It’s still dark, and you might see some nocturnal animals on your way to the launch site. You meet your pilot and see your balloon being inflated and prepared when you arrive. Because space is limited, this is a one-of-a-kind and exclusive experience. The balloon safari lasts approximately one hour, depending on the weather. This Tanzania Wildlife adventure will come to a close with a champagne bush breakfast in the middle of the park!
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
Accomodation: Serengeti Tortilis Camp
Day 9
Game drives in Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater
Breakfast is served early in the morning, followed by an en-route game drive out of the Serengeti towards the Ngorongoro Crater, which has the most wildlife throughout the year and a good chance of spotting ‘The Big 5′: lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard. Other wildlife includes the serval cat, cheetah, jackal, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelle, flamingo and bat-eared foxes, and over 400 different bird species. Then, after a picnic lunch, go on an afternoon game drive before returning to your accommodation for dinner and a night’s sleep.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
Accomodation: Country Lodge Karatu
